Çanakkale Bridge Project
Turkey has been working to build giant infrastructure projects across the country to boost economic growth, including a total of four mega-projects that are currently under construction: Istanbul’s third airport, the Gebze-Halkali commuter train link in Istanbul, the Ovit tunnel in northeastern Anatolia, and the Baku-Tbilisi- Kars Railway.
The Canakkale 1915 bridge is Set to be built between Lapseki's Şekerkaya region on the Anatolian side and Gallipoli's Sütlüce region on the European side, the project which, will be completed with an investment of over TL 10 billion ($2.7 billion), will be the first for the Dardanelles Strait and the fifth suspension bridge in the Marmara region.
The Constraction of the Bridge is spanning over 2,000 meters and set to be completed by 2023 when the country marks the centennial of the Republic of Turkey, according to the country's Transport Ministry.
Stating that Lapseki is ready in terms of construction and infrastructure, Population growth is expected in Lapseki in the near future. Currently population is around 15,000, but infrastructure work along with water, natural gas and social facilities are carried out in accordance with about 60,000 people.
The real estate Sector in Lapseki starts to live a “great mobility” in the district due to the construction of the new bridge. Pointing out that the land prices increased sevenfold compared to years before. Statistics said many investors from Bursa and Istanbul have asked for storage, apartments and lands for sale, suggesting that demand will soar during and after the holiday.
The locals living in the area said the construction of the bridge will create a new source of income, pointing out that land prices in the district went up and it was becoming increasingly difficult to find land for sale.
